INVISIBLE SEED PHRASE • UNIVERSAL BIP39

Your words disappear.
Your backup remains.

SATONA automatically converts every BIP39 word into universal binary before it is permanently marked onto a solid brass plate. Even if someone discovers your backup, your Seed Phrase never appears in plain text.

Compatible with BIP39 recovery phrases used by leading wallets. Wallet logos are compatibility references, not endorsements.

SATONA brass plate

Every word becomes a code.
Never readable information.

The standard is based on an immutable list of 2,048 words numbered from 0 to 2,047.

SATONA converts the index of each word in your Seed Phrase into binary code using our tool available here, then lets you permanently mark the plate with the automatic center punch included in the kit.

02

Assemble

Unscrew the conical end of the automatic center punch, insert one of the two supplied tips, then screw it back together.

The center punch is then ready to use.

03

Mark

Place the tip in the center of the square to be marked, then apply pressure until it clicks.

Repeat up to 8 times on the same square for a deeper, durable mark.

04

Verify & hide

Before storing your plate, carefully check every mark to ensure your phrase can be correctly reconstructed.

Once verified, keep the plate in a discreet, secure place known only to you.

Paper degrades. Online tools create exposure.

A recovery phrase is a critical secret. SATONA provides a physical format for thoughtful offline storage, without replacing good security practices.

01

Offline

The entire conversion is performed offline. Your Seed Phrase never leaves your environment.

02

Binary

Each BIP39 word is converted into its universal binary index before marking.

03

Permanent

The automatic center punch permanently marks the brass plate. No hammer, batteries or electrical device are required.

Your recovery phrase should never leave an offline environment.

For real-world use of SATONA, use the downloadable BIP39 list and perform the entire conversion process offline.

RISK 1

Keyloggers and malware

A compromised device can record what you type, including your recovery phrase.

RISK 2

Browsers, extensions and online services

A phrase entered on a website can be exposed through a malicious extension, a security vulnerability or an already compromised device, even if the website itself does not store the data.

RISK 3

Potentially irreversible consequences

Anyone who obtains your recovery phrase may be able to restore your wallet and take control of the assets it protects.

Never enter your complete recovery phrase on satona.fr or any other website.

SATONA’s online tools are intended for learning or converting a single word. For real-world use, work entirely offline.

Simple answers.

Is SATONA an electronic wallet?

No. SATONA is a physical medium designed to back up the information in a BIP39 recovery phrase in binary form.

How is SATONA different from a hardware wallet such as Ledger or Trezor?

A hardware wallet holds and uses the private keys required for wallet operations. SATONA is not a wallet: it physically backs up BIP39 recovery information so it can be reconstructed if needed. Their roles can therefore be complementary.

Are my cryptocurrencies stored on the SATONA plate?

No. SATONA stores no digital assets. The plate contains only the binary representation of the recovery information you choose to record.

Why protect the recovery phrase so carefully?

Anyone with your complete recovery phrase could potentially restore the corresponding wallet on a compatible device and access the assets it protects. Treat it as highly sensitive information.

Is SATONA compatible with my wallet?

SATONA is intended for wallets that use an English BIP39 recovery phrase of up to 24 words. Check your wallet documentation before use; not every wallet uses BIP39.

Do I engrave the words?

No. You mark the 11-bit binary index of each BIP39 word, not the word itself.

How many words can I back up?

SATONA can encode up to 24 BIP39 words: words 1–12 on the front and words 13–24 on the back.

Can I use SATONA without an internet connection?

Yes. After downloading the BIP39 list, the complete conversion and marking process can be performed offline; this is the recommended method.

What exactly is included in the SATONA kit?

The kit includes one solid-brass SATONA plate, one automatic centre punch, two tips, one premium magnetic box, one instruction leaflet and one QR code providing access to the SATONA instructions.

BIP39

BIP39, or Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 39, is a standard used by cryptocurrency wallets to generate recovery phrases made up of 12 to 24 words. These words are converted into a binary seed used to create the wallet’s cryptographic keys. Their index and binary representation are public, universal and documented, ensuring a long-lasting method that remains independent from SATONA.

11-bit

Each bit is either a 0 or a 1. With 11 bits, it is possible to represent 2,048 combinations, matching exactly the 2,048 words in the official BIP39 word list.

SATONA plates feature 24 rows of 11 squares, with 12 rows on the front and 12 on the back. This allows a complete 24-word Seed Phrase to be encoded using the automatic center punch included in the kit.

UNDERSTAND

My seed in binary? How?

It’s simple: the word’s position in the BIP39 list is converted to its binary equivalent.

01Every BIP39 word has a fixed position.

The BIP39 list contains 2,048 words, numbered from 0 to 2,047.

02This position is written in 11-bit binary.

This is the number marked on your SATONA plate.

03You can recover your word without SATONA.

The 11 bits reveal the number, then the corresponding word in the BIP39 list.
