A seed phrase is a human-readable backup: an ordered list of words from which a compatible wallet can rebuild its keys.
12 or 24 words, in one exact order
Most wallets show 12 or 24 words. Every word and its position matters. The phrase is not a password chosen by you, and changing one word creates different keys.
Wallet and seed are not the same
Your wallet is the software or device used to view balances and sign transactions. Your seed is the recovery source. If the device is lost, a compatible wallet can use the seed to recover access.

Why it is critical
Anyone who obtains the complete phrase may be able to restore the wallet and control its assets. Protect it from disclosure as carefully as from loss.
